Harley left the trailer and ran over to his men, who were standing by the chambers. Their equipment had already been loaded into the chopper. As he walked over, he signaled the pilot with a whirling motion with his fingers. The pilot shot him a quick salute and initiated the start-up procedure. Before Harley had even reached his men, the massive rotors had started to turn.

The SEALs needed no bidding. At Harley’s direction they ran over and climbed up the rear loading ramp into the Sea Stallion. Before he joined them, Harley walked over to Connie. She was at the chamber controls, going through a checklist. She looked up and smiled grimly as he approached.

“How does it look?”

“Not great, but we’ll be fine.”

“You’d better be, Lieutenant, you still owe me dinner at the weekend.”

Harley looked confused. “What dinner?”

She smiled at him. “The one you’re about to promise me you’ll buy me.”

“Ah, that one. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

They nodded at each other and then Harley walked over to the chopper.

As he left, Connie watched him go. She knew he was good at what he did, but she also knew what they were facing.
